About This Site
Our Mission
CaliforniaDisabilityFunding.com exists for one reason: to help California families find the support and services their children with disabilities are entitled to.
California has one of the most comprehensive disability support systems in the country, with billions of dollars in annual funding spread across dozens of programs run by different agencies. We have seen firsthand how complicated it can be to navigate this system — the information is scattered across hundreds of government websites, buried in legal language, and difficult for any family to piece together, let alone an exhausted parent at 11 PM after a long day.
We take that scattered, complicated information and present it clearly, in plain language, organized around what families actually need to know. We do our best to be accurate, current, and useful, and we link to primary sources so families can verify anything themselves.
Who We Are
This site is published by Dreamweaver LLC, an independent company based in Irvine, California. We are not a government agency, law firm, medical practice, advocacy organization, or service provider. We are an independent informational resource focused on helping California families understand the disability funding and services landscape.
We are not affiliated with the California Department of Developmental Services, the California Department of Health Care Services, the California Department of Social Services, the Social Security Administration, any Regional Center, or any other government entity. Our links to government websites are provided for your convenience and do not imply any official relationship.
Editorial Policy
Every guide on this site is researched against primary sources before publication. Our research workflow follows a simple hierarchy:
- Primary law and regulation first. We start with the actual statutes and regulations governing each program — the Lanterman Act, California Welfare & Institutions Code, Title 17 and Title 22 California Code of Regulations, the federal Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA), and Social Security Administration's POMS.
- Then state agency publications. Department of Developmental Services (DDS) guidance, Department of Health Care Services (DHCS) bulletins, California Department of Education (CDE) parent handbooks, and county Medi-Cal resource pages.
- Then established non-profit guidance. Disability Rights California, Family Voices of California, and similar organizations that have been working in this space for decades.
- Plain-language translation. Once we have verified the facts, we rewrite them in clear, conversational English that an overwhelmed parent can actually use.
Every article includes a publish date and a last-updated date so you can see when the content was last reviewed. California disability programs change — budgets shift, eligibility rules update, new programs launch — and we revise our guides as those changes happen. If you find something that looks outdated or incorrect, please tell us at info@californiadisabilityfunding.com and we will review and update it promptly.
We do our best to be accurate, but we are working in a complex regulatory environment and present this information to the best of our knowledge. We always encourage families to verify program details with the relevant agency before making decisions.
What We Are Not
We are not a substitute for professional advice. Nothing on this site constitutes legal advice, medical advice, financial advice, or tax advice. We do not provide individualized eligibility determinations, fill out applications on your behalf, represent you in hearings, or accept clients in any professional capacity.
If you need legal advice about your rights under the Lanterman Act, IDEA, or any other disability statute, please contact Disability Rights California at 800-776-5746. For medical questions, consult your child's pediatrician. For financial planning involving special-needs trusts or ABLE accounts, consult a qualified attorney or financial planner.
How We Fund This Site
This site is supported by advertising. Once the site is approved into the Google Publisher Network, ads served by Google AdSense will appear on certain pages. This advertising model allows us to keep every guide, checklist, and resource on the site completely free for families.
The ads you see are served by Google and chosen by their advertising system. We do not control which ads appear, and ads do not influence our editorial content. We do not accept payment from service providers, attorneys, agencies, or programs in exchange for recommendations. When we link to an external resource, it is because we believe it is genuinely helpful, not because we receive compensation.
Accuracy and Updates
We work hard to keep our information accurate and current. Every cornerstone guide shows the date it was last reviewed. If you find information on this site that is outdated or incorrect, please let us know at info@californiadisabilityfunding.com. We take accuracy seriously and will review and update content promptly.
